Apifera Farm - where art, story, animals & woman merge. Home to artist Katherine Dunn

Follow along my journey as an artist, mother to sheep and friend to weeds as I stumble along as novice farmer and shepherd - all the while being true to my artistic muses. Here we believe in making gardens, not war and we listen to the cues of wise donkeys as they bake pies. One must watch for cats falling from our trees, and listen to the bees as they tell us when to cut our fields of lavender. The chocolate lab named after a pie and the pug with one eye create rhymes for me on a daily basis, and at the beginning of every day I awake and ask the sheep, "What will happen today?".

Upcoming Workshop: the trailer

I made this video to give a better feel for the essence of the day. Some people have asked when the enrollment ends, and I suggested they commit by mid August to ensure a space. It's hard for me to know how many are signing up and many wait until the summer rush is over. Visit here to read more and sign up for either Workshop, September 24th or 25th [you can attend both even though the agenda is the same, I'm sure the energy of each day ill be unique].

I posted suggestions for nearby accommodations and travel tips also.

I also know the donkeys will love this. This will be Matilda's first public appearance at Apifera and she is so gentle and calm she will enhance the spirit of the day with her three tiny compadrés, Pino, Paco and Lucia.

I wish I could be there sharing this day with Pino and friends.
I've been following Pino for about a year after visiting local miniature donkeys, I found myself drawing and eventually painting donkeys! I thought you might like to see my most recent oil painting of a donkey wearing a yellow tail martin like a mink on my blog OliviaBeaumont.blogspot.com
(See the June 13 post)

Warm wishes and donkey hugs for your inspiring workshop!

Katherine,

Yesterday my friend/neighbor lent me your workshop book. I LOVE it! Thank you so much for sharing your work and process. I'm totally inspired. So much so, that I'm hoping to come out to your workshop. I live in MA, so I'm working out the details. Hope to see you in September. Bonnie
