Hope for Hope
This photo is protected by Creative Commons and may be posted by anyone as long as a link to the copyright holder and their site is noted. So feel free to pass this post on to others.
This beautiful creature, named Hope, was attacked in Greece by thugs who hacked off both of her ears. They then proceeded to savagely beat her back with a shovel.
Any animal having their ears cut off is heart wrenching - but when it is a donkey...their ears are so important to their sensitive reactions to the outer world.
Hope was rescued by a wonderful sanctuary in Spain, El Refugio Del Burrito that I've been reading about. They are one of the groups I hope to help with art sales and postings. Please take some time and see the great things they do to help donkeys in their region. In Spain and Europe, donkeys work as taxis and carry loads. Donkeys like to work, but they are often treated inhumanely and neglected by their owners. Their feet are neglected and when they have ceased to perform properly, many are left to starve. This sanctuary not only helps donkeys like that, it helps educate young children and adults to recognize donkey mistreatment.
Hope, we honor you and are so glad you have found this place to live. And we applaud Paul Svendsen and the sanctuary for all their loving, hard work they do.
